We had another great sunny market day on Saturday. Looking forward to seeing Captain Pete back on the field next Saturday (August 4) and hopefully a sheep show! Take a trip down memory lane with the Jukebox Junkies on stage.
What a great market we had on Saturday – a busy market including Captain Pete, perfect weather under sunny skies and wonderful music from Jeff Stevenson. Next week Snowdon House, Country Wools (local lamb for your weekend BBQ) and Symphony Vineyard return to the field. Missing Yoga? Good news! Yoga with Liv is back! Music from Blake Candy, Larry Stevens and James Whittall. Saturday mornings, 9am – 1pm, Saanich Fairground.
Popular local musician Jeff Stevenson entertains on the market stage this weekend. Jeff has a long and fascinating history in music and acting including playing one of the lead roles in the original 1969 Canadian production of the Broadway Musical “Hair” in Toronto! Want to learn more Jeff? Visit his Facebook page (www.facebook.com/JeffStevensonLive/). Got tools or knives to sharpen? MidKnife Crisis is at the market this week. Got pets? Marsco Canine Crunchies and Missy Catnip are on the field. Grater Whey, Sayward Lea Preserves, Van Isle Apiaries and Coastal Honey are back with us too! We’re also looking forward to seeing Captain Pete at the market. It might be this week – we’ll let you know!
It’ll be a berry good day at the market again this Saturday – strawberries, tayberries, raspberries, blueberries, cherries, gooseberries, and currants! I love our market from my head to-ma-toes – lots of tomatoes and fresh veg too. Looking for local protein for that special summer BBQ? Boughneath Farms (beef) and Country Wools (lamb) can satisfy your needs (still waiting to hear from Captain Pete). Bill Johnson, a local bluesman with an international following, graces our stage on Saturday. “He’s an unsung hero of Canada’s blues and roots music scene” (Holgar Petersen, CBC Radio, Stoney Plain Records). Want to learn more about Bill and his music? Visit his website at www.billjohnsonblues.com. Every Saturday morning, 9am – 1pm, Saanich Fairground, June – Thanksgiving weekend.
We’re expecting fresh-picked blueberries and raspberries at the market this Saturday, as well as our first visit from Silver Rill Berry Farm (cherries, black currant concentrate and more). Yoga with Liv at 9am in front of the stage. Sorry no Brentwood Bay Pie Lady this week (hopefully again soon). Check out the Greater Victoria Public Library and Community Living Victoria info booths. Music by Ronda Rozon and Jen Somerville.
Looking like another fine market day on Saturday! Yoga with Liv was a big hit last week and she’s back on the field again this Saturday. Adult yoga at 9:15 am; kids at about 11 am. Long-time market favourite Dave Harris One Man Band plays on stage.
Looking forward to a fascinating day at the market! We’re trying something new today – Yoga with Liv on the grass in front of the stage for adults from 9:15 to 10:00 and kids from about 11:00am to 11:30. “These classes are free and no experience is necessary, just bring a mat and a smile!” All the usual good things including fresh juicy local strawberries and lots of yummy baking (breads, pies, strudels, sticky buns, muffins and more). Brad Prevedoros plays on the stage. Visit our vendor page and check out his music under Music category or visit this week’s market map (in progress) and click on the number on the stage.
We’re back for another great year on the field at the Saanich Fairground starting this Saturday! Lots of fresh juicy local strawberries and other farm fresh veg, local farm-raised meats, wineries, tasty preservers, artisan crafts, fresh-baked breads and yummy baked goods. Chick Wagon Band kicks off the season with country rhythms. Enter our weekly Market Buck$ contest and you could win $50 in Market Buck$ top spend at the market. This year’s market opens June 2 in Pioneer Park, part of the Brentwood Bay Festival organized by the Brentwood Bay Community Association. We’re back at our regular location at the Saanich Fairground on June 9. New for this year! “Yoga at the Market” and the “Power of Produce” program for kids. We’ve posted the 2018 vendor application form on our vendor page along with applications for community non-profit groups and community businesses. See you on the field this summer!
