About the Peninsula Country Market

Mayor Ted Jones opens the Peninsula Country Market in July 1991The Peninsula Country Market opened to the public in July 1991 at old the Saanichton Fairground in Saanichton village and is the longest-running market in the Victoria region east of Metchosin. The market operated on the Old Fairgrounds in the village for a few years before moving to its current location at the Saanich Fairground on Stelly’s Cross Road. Our market  was the only community market on the Peninsula during the 1990s, attracting thousands of people each Saturday from across the region. Some people have been selling, shopping and making music at the market since its early days! The Market is operated by the non-profit Peninsula Country Market Society. Community is at the core of the Peninsula Country Market. We offer up to two tables each Market for non-profit community groups to come to the market and tell their stories (sorry, no groups promoting political or religious activities). Click here for more information.
