SilverWood was formed as a quartet in late 2019, consisting of Stephen Pierrot on mandolin or cittern, Barry Carlson on guitar, a flutist and cellist. They has gigs lined up for the spring of 2020 but were shut down by Covid and subsequently broke up. Stephen and Barry have continued to work together as a due, with Stephen playing lead (melodies) on mandolin and traditional Scottish and Irish (Cetic) music from the 17th and 18th centuries, consisting of dance music (jigs, reels, strathspeys, hornpipes, and set dances) and airs, including compositions by Turlough O’Carolan the blind Irish harper and composer.

Island from Sooke to Sayward and most places in between for many years. They have
entertained audiences at festivals, folk clubs, summer markets, wineries and cideries.

the most contemporary of songs and, of course, your old favorites from a bunch of

genres including rock, reggae, pop and more.

The popular band, Bijoux du Bayou, from which this duo is apart of, has been

entertaining audiences in BC for years with traditional Cajun, Zydeco, TexMex

and a twist of Canadiana which is delivered with a slough of traditional instruments.

including guitars, fiddles, Mandolins, Ukes, accordions, flute, and bouzouki.

George Robinson (bass, lead vocals) has the longest pedigree in the band, having played bluegrass bass since 1977. By good luck and happenstance that year, he managed to obtain ownership of Duke Neilson’s bass (Duke played for many years with Don Messer and the Islanders, a Canadian musical institution if ever there was one). Thanks to the unforgiving march of time, he has now been playing this bass longer than Duke did.
